What do you do on a rainy day in Hong Kong?

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

Why DMC’s Amazing Race of course!

dmc_0985DMC recently showed 25 travel agents from Australia and New Zealand the cultural highlights of Tsim ShaTsui as only DMC can.  The agents from Down Under were visiting Hong Kong as guests of the Hong Kong Tourism Board to take in the sights and get the lowdown on Hong Kong’s latest attractions. So what better way to get to the inside scoop than a treasure hunt through the streets of Kowloon, taking in the Temple Street Market, the Jade Market, Tin Ha Temple, Flower and Bird Streets.

Despite monsoon showers the group split into five teams, maps and clue sheets in hand, and managed to navigate from cultural icon to cultural icon with fun and flair before returning to a the warm hospitality and a buffet lunch at Delaney’s Irish Pub. See Gallery

hong-kong-by-night3What do you do when you have 60 guests booked  for Hong Kong’s premier Harbour Cruise for champagne and cocktails to view  the fabulous City of Lights laser and light show, and suddenly the  Cruise Operator cancels because of torrential rain and thunderstorms?

You make sure your Destination Management Company is THE DMC.

THE DMC recently had exactly that happen. They had 60 guests from a South African bank an hour away from boarding the coaches to take them to  board  a private junk for Harbour Cruise and Cocktails when the skies opened, a Weather Alert was issued  and all harbour cruises were cancelled.

What to do?

A couple of fast phone calls and the coaches were re-routed to Quarterdeck on the Wanchai waterfront. DJ’s were dispatched, staff mobilized and THE DMC’s guests found themselves at one of Hong Kong’s top harbour-side restaurants , champagne and cocktails flowing and, once the rain stopped, overlooking the sparkling lights of Victoria Harbour where they danced the night away.
